Logging into a Network Backup
You may wish to log into EXACT backups to check their validity or to access data in the case of a Server failure.
You will not be able to log into a Network Backup unless you have pre-configured and completed backups and the data is on the same version as the installed version of EXACT.
See How to Setup a EXACT Network Backup
To log into your network backup launch EXACT (if met with an error click “No Server”).
Please Note: Only the workstation storing the backup data will have access to the data.
Contact the Support Team if you wish to use the backup as recovery data in the case of a server failure.
If you have the option on the Practice dropdown of a database name containing the word “backup” i.e PracticeBackup (your database may be labelled slightly differently but should always contain the word “backup”) select this and log in with your normal credentials.
If you have no backup database option you will need to specify the backup database name and location in the following file. C:\ProgramData\SOEI\EXACT\Login.ini
Open this file with Notepad and add the following section at the bottom (if it doesn’t already exist). make sure that the word “backup” is in the Database name otherwise the data will connect to the EXACT services and cause issues. Change the location to wherever your backup is located.
The data location cannot contain spaces so you may need to rename folders to remove the spaces before configuring the Login.ini file.
