NHS Wales - Changes in EXACT (December 2021)
On 1st December 2021, NHS Wales introduced some new elements, this article gives an overview of these and how you can utilise them in EXACT.
- Clinical Data Sets
- Patient Consent
- AGP (Aerosol Generating Procedures)
- Changes to Risk Assessment (ACORN)
Clinical Data Sets
Three new Clinical Data sets have been added to EXACT, these include;
- Custom Occlusal App - Hard Bite
- Custom Occlusal App - Soft Bite
- Denture Addition/Reline/Rebate
You can add these new data sets to any services, if you need assistance on how to set these please use our guide on NHS Service Codes and Categories.
Once a service has been charted with a dataset this will appear on the FP17 window under the 'Clinical Data Set' tab, if a service does not have a dataset assigned it will not appear on this tab and will not be counted by the NHS as a treatment.
Patient Consent
Patient consent for Contact Preference will now auto-populate with a patients information as entered on their patient record. This will also opt-in patients to be contacted by the NHS, patients can still choose to opt-out by removing the tick from the box next to the email address or mobile number.
AGP (Aerosol Generating Procedures)
A new AGP service now exists to send a count of all AGP appointments with each claim, charting this service on every appointment that uses an Aerosol Generating Procedure will add to the count for the course of treatment.
This can be added to any service that uses AGP, follow our AGP help guide to set this up.
The count information is displayed on the FP17 window once you TC a course of treatment under the treatment tab, this can be manually increased using the arrows if necessary.
Risk Assessment (ACORN)
Risk Assessment/ACORN Changes have been implemented to lock the Perio Health tab as no data is required on this tab if either a patient is edentulous or a patient is unable to tolerate periodontal examination.
The Risk Assessment form will no longer allow a patient to be marked as both under 12 and edentulous, for example, if 'Patient is edentulous' is ticked and you then tick 'Patient is under 12' the tick will be removed from edentulous and vice versa.
Full ACORN and guidance can be found in the NHS Risk Assessment - ACORN help guide.
