Making a Provider Inactive
When a provider is leaving your practice, you will need to complete some housekeeping tasks including reassigning their responsibilities to other providers, creating blocks in diaries and closing appointment books, disabling their login and more.
Providers Leaving the Practice
It is advisable to perform this process with all users logged out from EXACT and to take a backup of your data before actioning the steps, this will ensure you have data to fall back on should an error occur.
- Go to File - Providers - View Providers.
- Select a provider using the up/down arrows or the lined selection button.
- Click the Provider is Leaving option to open the configuration prompt, there are two options available;

Reassign current Provider responsibilities which will perform the following actions;
- Changing patients of the selected provider to another provider in your practice.
- Selecting a reassignment date of when to change appointments to the new provider.
- Adding blocks to the provider's diary to prevent appointment booking.
- Removing the provider from your recalls configuration (if configured).
- Removing the provider from your online booking configuration (if configured).

Mark current Provider as inactive, disable login and remove from appointment books which will perform the following actions;
- Remove the provider from your appointment books.
- Setting the provider as inactive.
- Disable the provider's login to prevent unwanted access.

⚠️ Note: The Provider is Leaving functionality creates a rollback file - this can be found in the Search and Change menu options.
