NHS: Adding Dental Care Professional (DCP) Information
A DCP Provider is a Therapist, Hygienist, Dental Nurse or Clinical Technician NOT a Dentist.
In 2022, NHS Wales (1st April 2022) and England (1st October 2022) introduced a requirement for Dental Care Professional (DCP) information to be added to a course of treatment where a DCP has performed treatment.
In order to add this information to a claim in EXACT, DCP and GDC information must be added to providers profiles.
Please Note: If you do not currently know your GDC number or DCP type, please contact the NHS to obtain this information. |
Information: Dental Care Professionals are Therapists, Hygienists, Dental Nurses and Clinical Technicians. |

Adding a GDC number to a user
If your Dental Nurse or Clinical Technician has been added to EXACT as a user (not a provider), they will need to have a provider account created.
There are two options for this, creating a new provider which means the clinician will have a new EXACT login/initials or to keep the same user name/initials as they currently use.
Creating a new provider
- Navigate to Configure - Add User / Provider.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new user, full steps can be found in the add a new user or provider article.
- Remember to add the GDC number and DCP Type during the provider setup.
Updating an existing user to a provider
- Navigate to Configure - User Settings.
- Load the provider profile (type their username in the box at the top).
- Delete the user, using the bin icon.
- Once deleted, select +1 to create a new user, using the same username.
- For the option Is this user a provider? select Yes.
- Full steps can be found in the add a new user or provider article.
- Remember to add the GDC number and DCP Type during the provider setup.

- Load the required providers' profile.
- Locate the GDC Number field in the lower left.
- Enter the clinicians GDC number.
- Locate the DCP Type field on the right.
