Instant Messaging History
A history of instant messages sent within your practice is available within a limited time frame.
Historical Messages
Instant messages are saved for a maximum of 30 days and are limited to the last 100 messages, these limitations are in place to improve the performance of EXACT and reduce the storage space required on your system.
💡Tip: These limitations are in total across your entire practice, not per user.
Accessing the History
- Go to File - Instant Message.
- Or click the Instant Message icon at the top of your system in your workspace.
- Click the History tab to access your messages.
- You will only be able to see messages sent and received by the user currently logged in.
- Admin users have access to all user's history.
- Clicking on a message in the history tab will open the message in the conversation tab.
Messages that have already been sent to or from a user will appear under the History tab.
Increasing Historical Message Limits
💡 Tip: The historical message limits can be increased, however, please be aware that this may significantly reduce the operational performance of your entire system.
- Log in as an EXACT admin user Under Configure - Settings.
- Search for the below setting/s and double-click to change the value.
- To change how many messages you can see (Default 100) change the setting (this can be changed per EXACT user): instant messaging.message history.show count
- To change how often messages are deleted by EXACT change the setting (Default 30): practice.conversations.days to keep
- Alter the value and click OK to save the changes.
