If you're not being notified of instant messages because they're not appearing, you will need to perform some troubleshooting.

Windows Notifications Not Appearing
Windows 11
Several features may cause your notifications not to be displayed in Windows 11.
⚠️Please Note: These steps explore these options; you may need to use one or more of these steps to get your notifications to display.
- Type Notifications in your Windows search bar.
- Select Notifications & actions.
- Check that the Notifications toggle is on.
- Check if the Do not disturb toggle is on.
- Turn this off if this is on; alternatively, if you wish this to remain enabled, set EXACT as a priority notification using the Set priority notifications settings.
- Check if the do not disturb settings are configured and blocking EXACT by clicking Turn on do not disturb automatically.
- Disable any options that may be blocking your EXACT notifications from appearing.
- To set EXACT Notifications to always display, click Set priority notifications.
- Click Add apps.
- Select EXACT from the drop-down menu.
💡Tip: If EXACT is not available on the list, ask a colleague to send you a message, refresh the page and see if it becomes available.
- Click Focus.
- Check that Turn on do not disturb is not enabled.
- If it is and you wish for it to remain on, click the back arrow in the upper left to return to the previous screen and follow the next step.
- Ask a colleague to send you an instant message to test that this has resolved the issue.
Windows 10
This is commonly caused by the Focus assist setting in Windows.
- Click the square speech bubble in the corner.
- Or click on the icon in your Windows Task Bar.
- This will open your Manage Notifications menu.
- There are various options to select from.
- Locate Focus assist.
- Click to change the status of this setting, it will toggle through the options Priority only, Alarms only, Focus assist and Off.
- Change this to Off.
- Ask a colleague to send you an instant message to test that this has resolved the issue.
- Alternatively, check that your notifications are enabled.
Multiple Instances of EXACT
If you have more than one instance of EXACT open on one computer or your user profile is logged into EXACT on more than one workstation.
- Open Task Manager in Windows.
- Navigate to Background processes.
- Locate dental.exe.
- Ensure you have saved any unsaved work.
- End all instances of dental.exe.
- Highlight an instance then click End task
- Repeat for all instances
- Instant messages should now open when selecting the windows notification alert.
