Recording a Denplan Oral Health Score
Oral Health Scoring (OHS) records a patient's risk assessment for Denplan Dental insurance.
Denplan Oral Health Score
The OHS scoring system is a proven method of assessing dental risk, used by UK general dental practitioners.
⚠️ Please Note: Denplan functionality must be enabled in your system for Denplan features to be available.
Recording an OHS Score
- Open a patient record.
- Select the Denplan tab.
- Select the OHS tab.
- Existing OHS scores will be listed in date order.
- Click +1 to Add an OHS Score.
- Or double-click a row to edit an existing score.
- When adding an OHS score.
- The Date will default to the current date.
- Provider will default to the clinician logged into EXACT.
- Recording examination and grading.
- Select the appropriate grading from your examination from Poor (0), Average (4) and Good (8) for Appearance, Chewing, Pain, Mouth Lining, and Bite.

Tooth Decay is graded by sextant using the dropdown menu with options Decayed or Sound, with a maximum score of 24.

Tooth Wear is graded by sextant using the dropdown menu with options Worn or Sound, with a maximum score of 12.

Gum Health is graded by sextant using the dropdown menu with options from 0 to 4, with a maximum score of 24.
- Click OK to save the score.
- A new score will be created on the OHS tab.

Each score is listed under the relevant heading, with the total score at the end of the row.
💡Tip: A total score will only be recorded if everything has been scored.

Additional Information
💡Tip: You can print the oral health score using the print option, highlight the score then click the print button .
💡Tip: Delete a score by clicking on the Delete button.
