Every record in EXACT is identified with a unique number, this is known as a Record Identifier, also referred to as Record ID or RID.

Record IDs are most commonly formatted as 0-00-00 and only consist of numbers, once created a Record ID cannot be changed or altered.

Searching by Record ID

When searching for a patient, you can use the Record ID, this can be used in the Patient window or when creating an appointment.

1. Click the dropdown menu to reveal all search options.
2. Select Record ID.
3. Enter the number you wish to search.

Using Record IDs in communications

You can include Record IDs when using the various communication methods in EXACT, including SMS, Letters and Email.

The merge field [patient.recordID] can be found in the merge field list in all three methods of communication, please use the merge field editor within EXACT to add the merge field to the template.
