Creating Patient Notes
Patient Notes are digital reminders you can add to a patient record; use them to add information reminders to patient records for when someone loads their file.
Adding a Note to a Patient Record
⚠️ Please Note: The Notes tab should not be used for clinical information, as information added to this functionality can be deleted. Instead, use the Note button on the Chart tab for clinical information.

- Open the patient record.
- Click the Notes tab.
- Click the +1 button to create a new note.
💡Tip: You can also click the Sticky note icon at the top of the patient record to create a note.- The Add Patient Note screen will open.

The Notes tab has areas for General Notes and Notes; these areas could be used to separate different types of information, such as a patient's interests or personality in general notes from other information in notes.
General Notes
💡 Tip: This area is great for storing information about a patient, their personality or topics of conversation, things that may help relax and reduce anxiety. If you're using it in this way, you may want to store each different piece of information on a different line to help with referencing the information.
- To add a general note, open the Notes tab, click into the General Notes area and type.
- You can click anywhere in the box to add, edit and delete information.
Notes
With the Add Patient Note screen open, after clicking the +1, you have the option to add Notes, use Quick Notes or create a Pop-up Note.
Creating a Note
- Type your notes into the Notes area to add text.
- Select a Quick Note from the right column, then click the double left arrow to add the quick note content to the Notes area, or double-click the Quick Note.
- Some options are greyed out when adding a Note; however, these will become available when adding a Pop-up Note.
Once a note is created and saved, it will appear in the Notes tab on the patient record. Saved notes will have the date, time, and provider's initials added to the note.
💡Tip: Due to the date and time stamps, this note is useful for recording notes regarding financial arrangements or conversations with other health professionals and/or the patient.
⚠️ Please Note: Pop-up notes will also be saved in this area due to the date and time stamps.
Additional Information
💡Tip: Notes that are saved with the user's initials, if the person creating the note is different to the logged-on user, prefix the note with their initials for future reference.
