NHS Continuation Treatment (England & Wales)
You can only claim Continuation Treatment if the Course Of Treatment (COT) is within 2 months of the patients last treatment.
There are a few instances when you cannot claim a continuation COT:
1) If the original COT is an Incomplete COT
2) If the original COT was Urgent treatment only.
3. You cannot claim a prescription on a Continuation COT
You can only claim Continuation Treatment if the original COT was of the same or higher banding.
For example, you cannot claim a Continuation COT if the 1st COT was for 3 UDA's but the contiuation is for 12 UDA's. The patient has to pay the full price.
How to mark a COT as a Continuation
When you open an NHS COT, you need to tick the box for 'Further Treatment Within 2 Months (Patient doesn't Pay)'.
EXACT will not automatically tick the 'Further Treatment Within 2 Months (Patient doesn't Pay)' box
