Drawing on a Tooth
Tooth and filling graphics can be drawn directly onto the teeth representations so that drawings will be displayed when viewing the tooth chart. You can draw filling shapes, accurately mark areas of concern and show tooth jewellery.
Drawings are added via a service.
Configuring a New Drawing Service
- In a patient’s chart tab.
- Click the +1 button at the bottom of the service list.
- Enter a code and a description for the new service, something like ***DRAWING and Drawing Service to help you identify the purpose of the new service.
- Then select the drawing option from the chart graphic drop-down menu.
- Or select filling if it is a filling-related service.
- Set any other characteristics for the service as required and click OK to save the new drawing service.
Drawing on a Tooth
There are two common ways you can draw on a tooth;
- Choose a service with a graphic, such as a filling.
- Then click edit drawing to alter the standard filling shape.
- Select a service that is set to drawing.
-
The service can be selected by double-clicking it or dragging it onto the treatment plan area of the chart tab.
- It makes no difference if you select the tooth first then the service, or vice-versa.
- It does not matter if the chart is in 2D or 3D mode, as the drawing window display is the same in each case.
-
Drawing on a Tooth
-
From the patient’s chart tab.
-
Select the required service from the service list and drag it into the treatment plan area.
-
A drawing details prompt will open if your service is configured as a drawing graphic.
- If your service graphic was set to filling, chart the filling normally, then double-click on the chart line in the planning window. From here you can open the edit drawing window where the standard filling shape will already be drawn, and you can then tweak the drawing as required.
- When using the drawing graphic, the selected tooth will be highlighted on the tooth chart.
If necessary use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll through the tooth chart and select a different tooth or click a different tooth on the chart. - Press and hold your left mouse button and use the mouse pointer to draw on the tooth. While doing so the following functions will be useful:
Paint The default option when the window opens. Selecting this button will always re-enable drawing if another option has been selected. Erase This will erase any drawing you may have done on the tooth in the current session.
To erase, select erase then keep the left mouse button pressed, click and drag your cursor over the area you wish to erase.
Undo This will undo the last change you made to the drawing in this session. To undo earlier changes, you must use the erase function.
Previously saved drawings cannot be undone or erased.
Display Presents you with further options for viewing the tooth;
Current drawing, previous drawing, current fillings, existing fillings.
Move/Zoom When selecting this, a grid will be displayed around the tooth; keeping your left mouse button pressed, drag your cursor to move the tooth.
Keep the right mouse button pressed then drag your cursor to enlarge or reduce the image size.
Once you click the move/zoom button, you do not need to position your mouse cursor over the tooth: just keep your mouse button pressed and move the mouse.
Rotate Click on the button to display a grid around the tooth, keep your mouse button pressed and drag your mouse cursor to rotate the tooth.
The left mouse button rotates the tooth up/down when you move the mouse up or down and left/right when you move the mouse left or right.
