When issuing a prescription in the UK you will need to chart a prescription service with the correct dataset and banding assigned to inform the NHS what prescription has been issued.

Charting a prescription

There are several prescription services available in EXACT;

• AB·PRESCRIP, Antibiotic Prescription
• PRSCPT, Issue of a Prescription
• PRSCPT@, Issue of a Prescription (Not AB's)

You can edit the description of these services to improve the visibility of what each one is to be used for.

These services must have the relevant NHS datasets and banding assigned to transmit the correct information to the NHS.

If you are unsure of which dataset is correct for your services, please contact your NHS team.

Assigning a dataset to a prescription service;

1. Navigate to configure - services/stock items - view services.
2. Type 'PRSCPT' to skip to these prescription services.
   • If you have configured your own services, search for these instead.
3. Select a prescription service by double-clicking on it.
   • Click the dropdown option for FP17/O Data Set.
   • Select the relevant dataset for the selected service - utilise the Antibiotics dataset for antibiotic prescriptions.
   • Save your changes and repeat for any additional prescription services.

NHS Antibiotic banding

If you are unsure of which banding is correct for your services, please contact your NHS team.

Assigning banding to a prescription service;

1. Navigate to file - payors.
   • Search for your NHS payor.
2. Select Fee Schedule.
   • Search for your prescription services.
   • Double-click the service to select it.
   • Set the NHS Band using the drop-down menu, if changes are required.
3.  Save your changes and repeat for all prescription services.
