Graphical (2D) Tooth Charting
The default graphical tooth chart is displayed in 2D, this helps to reduce confusion as well as reduce any strain on your computer graphics cards.
If you would prefer, you can switch to 3D charting, you can find further information about this within the help centre.
Understanding the Tooth Chart
The Odontogram is a graphical representation of the teeth in the patient’s upper and lower jaws. Including base charting, historical charting and planned treatment.
The tooth chart has 32 teeth (8 per quarter) and 20 Deciduous teeth with each split into sectors of the tooth.
The switch on the left allows you to view charting for Permanent (P), Deciduous (D) and a mixture of both.
The switch on the right allows you to view all charting, Base (B), Current (C) or both at the same time.
Planned treatment
Planned treatment is displayed in blue by default.
You can customise this by double-clicking on the heading bar of a course of treatment.
Completed Treatment
Completed treatment is defined by each service.
You can change the colour by setting this in the service.
- Configure - Services/Stock Items - View Services or select the service via the service list on the Chart tab.
- Open the service by editing it (e|d) then set the colour to choose a new colour.
- Click OK to save your changes.

The default selection for new patients can be changed;
- Configure - Practice Settings.
- The last dentition that was last displayed is recorded and will be used the next time you open the patient’s record.
Permanent, Mixed and Deciduous Dentitions are displayed with the different numbers of teeth identifiers.
- Permanent has two rows, 16 teeth across each row with a break in the middle.
- Mixed has four rows, with top and bottom rows displaying the deciduous teeth in rows of ten.
- Deciduous has two rows, 10 teeth across each row with a break in the middle.
Click the switch to cycle between these three options.
Base and Current Switch
The switch to the right of the tooth chart filters to one of 3 options;
- Base charting only.
- All charting.
- or current charting (shown on open courses of treatment).
Click the switch to cycle between these three options.
