Base Charting
Base Charting is the process of identifying any historic treatment and the existing health of a patients teeth and gums.
To add/remove base chart services see: Creating Services.
Base Charting on a patient
- From the patient's Chart Tab select the Base Tab (depending on the user's settings, this could be either on the upper or lower part of the chart activity tabs. See: Chart Activity Tabs).
- Highlight a service by left-clicking then select a tooth from the tooth chart to apply the service or alternatively double click a service then select the tooth (if a tooth is required). You can also change the service category to find a specific list of services (see: Configuring Service Categories).
This example shows the user highlighting the base service MISS then selecting tooth LL3 which marks the tooth as Missing.
Best practice tip: Chart more specific codes like ERUPT-EXFOL (unerupted or exfoliated teeth) to remove the tooth graphic but show that the tooth is yet to come through. Rechart the same base chart code when the time comes and it will remove the base charting and the tooth will reappear. |
Removing Base Charting
To remove base charting, simply chart the same service on the same teeth/tooth again to remove the charting.
In some scenarios (i.e converted base charting) it may require you to go into the patient's chart history and void the required base chart services.
