Logging into an EXACT Network Backup
You will need to log in to your backup data to access any saved data.
💡Tip: Schedule a reminder to log into your backup data, to check your backups are saving correctly, and that you can access the saved data, should you need to.
Accessing a Network Backup
⚠️Note: To access your backup data, your EXACT version must match that of your backup data; due to this, you may be prompted to upgrade the data when logging into a backup.
- Launch EXACT.
- Select your Practice Backup option from the Practice dropdown menu.
- Log in with your normal credentials (username and password).
💡Tip: If you are presented with an error prompt, select No Server to log into the data.
⚠️Note: Only the workstation performing the backup, will have access to the backup data.
Contact the Support Team if you wish to use the backup as recovery data in the case of a server failure.
Missing Backup Option
If your Practice dropdown menu does not have a backup database option, this must be specified in the backup database name and location.
- Access the following location: C:\ProgramData\SOEI\EXACT\Login.ini, right-click and open the login.ini file with Notepad.
- Locate the [DATABASES] section at the bottom of the file - if this does not exist, create the databases section by adding the following information:
- [DATABASES]
- PracticeBackup=C:\DataBkup
- Replace C:\DataBkup with the location of your backup data.
💡Tip: The data location cannot contain spaces, so you may need to rename folders to remove the spaces before configuring the login.ini file. - Click File - Save to keep your changes.
- Close your EXACT login prompt and re-launch EXACT to access your backup data from the Practice dropdown menu and log into your backup data.
