Creating an Extra Oral Pathology chart
The Pathology tab of the Patient File provides the ability to create and maintain both intra-oral and extra-oral diagnosis pathology charts. It also records the pathology chart history.

Enabling the Pathology tab
- Go to Configure - Patient File.
- Tick the Enable Pathology Tab box.
- Click OK to save changes, you will be prompted to close and launch EXACT to save changes*.
*this may not always be required.
With this enabled, when you open a patient file, the Pathology tab will be available alongside the other tabs.
Creating a Pathology Exam
- With a patient file open, select the Pathology tab.
- Click the +1 button at the bottom of the window.
- Select Extra Oral Exam, then click OK.
- This opens the Add Pathology Chart window.
Please Note: Until you click the OK button none of the changes made in this session, whether adding or removing details, will be retained. - You can now chart your findings, adding any abnormalities.
- Change the abnormality type via the drop-down menu (abnormality colours can be changed from default, view how to configure colours).
- Drag the mouse to increase to abnormality size.
Tip: Tick Remove Selection then drag the box over the abnormalities to be removed or use the Remove Last or Remove All buttons to undo any mistakes.
- Add any notes in the Pathology Notes window.
- If your version of EXACT has options for a Risk Assessment, add these by checking the relevant option.
- Click OK when complete to save.
Changing the settings of abnormalities
Colours
- Select the abnormality from the drop-down menu.
- Click Set Colour then select the desired colour followed by OK to set a new colour.
Dot size
- To paint standard dots of colour, set the dot size in mm between 1 and 25, and ensure that the Remove Selection checkbox is checked (ticked), then click to paint dots on the chart.
- To paint variable-sized dots and ovals of colour, un-check (un-tick) the Remove Selection checkbox, then either click for a dot at the set size or drag to form an oval shape.
Viewing or editing an Pathology Chart in the history
- Select the Pathology tab.
- Select the Pathology Chart to be viewed/edited, then select e|d.
- Make any adjusts as required then select OK.
Printing/emailing a Pathology Chart
- Select the Pathology tab.
- Select the Pathology Chart to be printed.
- Click the Print icon, from this point you can chose to Print or Email the chart.
Print: Check the correct printer is selected before printing.
Email: Select an Email Template if one is applicable then OK, compose your email, be sure to add a Subject then select Send to email the Pathology Chart to the patient or specialist.
