Charting lab items
After completing the configuration steps, Lab Items can now be charted on a course of treatment for any patient requiring a Lab Item.
To do this the provider will continue to chart all treatment as usual but they need to ensure they are also charting your Lab Item service on the course of treatment.
Info: When charting Lab Items, a LAB Laboratory and date box will pop-up on screen, simply follow the details to complete Lab items. |
- Chart the patients treatment as normal.
- Chart your Lab Item.
- Use the up/down arrows or the selection option to select your Laboratory Code, this will display all the Labs in EXACT.
- Highlight the label being used then click OK.
- Enter the Expected Date.
- If there is a Service Cost to the item enter this.
- Click OK to save changes and chart the Lab Item.
Please Note: Do not tick the lab item as complete until you have received this back from the lab, if you tick the item it will affect the reporting on lab items, please ensure you save the patients file before running the lab report. |
You can report on Lab items using the Lab Work Due Report & Lab Work Done Report reports.

The idea of this is great, however the return date of the lab work of future appointments is unknown until the appointments are actually booked by the reception.
