A typical radiograph will be comprised of 3 files:
- A Stamp or BMP file (this is the thumbnail image)
- A DIC file
- An MIH file
Below is an image of what these three files may look like.
These files usually live in the temp folder for EXAMINE Pro C:\Program Files (x86)\SOE\ExPro\Tmp\ but are automatically moved to the Recycle Bin once these images are assigned/deleted. They show in the Temp folder if you see them within the Acquisition Screen.
Restoring an X-ray
- Sort the Recycle Bin by "Date Deleted" this will make it easier to locate the missing files. Locate the three image files that were deleted at the time the X-rays were processed.
- Select these 3 image files with the same file name and right-click.
- Click Restore, this will return them to the ExPro temp folder, ready to be assigned again.
- Click Restore, this will return them to the ExPro temp folder, ready to be assigned again.
- Once restored, return to the acquisition module in EXAMINE Pro, the images will appear ready to be saved.
Restoring an Intra Oral Photo
Unlike an X-ray an Intra Oral Photo can't be restored in the same way. The process is still the same to find the file in the Recycle Bin. However a photo won't restore to the WDM camera module with the right click and restore as will be lost. To recover a photo you need to do the following.
- Sort the Recycle Bin by "Date Deleted" this will make it easier to locate the missing files. Locate the three image files that were deleted at the time the Photo was taken.
- Select the JPG image files. Right Click the image and select Cut.
- Load to another folder on the PC or the Desktop and Right Click and Paste. This will take the image out of the Bin.
- Will need to Import the Image back into Examine Pro. Use This Guide as a reference.
- Once Imported Image will be back on the patient file.
Unable to locate files
If you cannot locate the files in the recycle bin at the time the x-rays were processed, the practice will need to speak with their X-ray equipment supplier for assistance as it may be possible to restore the x-rays via the scanners internal memory or drivers subject to model.
