Scanning with EXACT
When you have a physical document, photo or something outside of your computer that you need to store in a patient's record, you'll need to scan it into their contacts tab.
Before you can get scanning, you'll need to have your scanners configured to scan to your computers, if they're not already set up, contact your IT/hardware support before continuing down this article.
Scanning
- Navigate to your patient record then select the contacts tab.
- Click the Scan button at the bottom.
- This will open up your configured scanner or if this is unavailable it will open the scanner image acquisition agent.
- Select your single or multipage (if you are scanning multiple pages and using the scanner acquisition agent, select single then select feeder as your paper source).
- Change any settings if needed then scan your document.
- Once the scan is complete, preview the results then send to EXACT to save the scan in EXACT.
EXACT scanner image acquisition agent
This functionality offers an alternative to inbuilt scanning options and is available from EXACT 24.141.
- Use the first drop-down menu to select your required scanner.
- Type a description for your scan into the title box.
- Categorise your document as necessary.
- The scanner settings are accessed via the drop-down option, providing access to scanner settings;
- Paper source (flatbed, feeder or duplex)
- Orientation
- Page size
- Colour options
- DPI (suggested setting is 200-300 DPI or higher for images)
- Straighten
Disable the EXACT scanner image acquisition agent
- Go to configure - practice settings.
- Untick the setting 'enable scanner app'
- Click OK.
If someone enables the scanner app again, follow the steps above to disable the prompt once again.

- Multipage scanning is available from EXACT 24.165.
