Setting up a Demo Database in EXACT
Your demo database will need to be configured by the EXACT support team for you to access a demo version of EXACT.
Configuring a Demo Database
⚠️Note: This article has been created for use by the EXACT Support team.
- Connect to the practice server computer.
- Load this help article.
⚠️Note: DO NOT USE LIVE DATA containing Personal Patient Identifiable Information. This may cause a data breach and database duplication issues with server services connecting to both databases, causing the sending/receiving of communications and payments to both databases.
💡Tip: Download the relevant country database below on the practice server. - Place the file in the location where the Demo data will be stored. i.e. D:\Exactwin\Demo, then double click it and it should extract all the files.
💡Tip: The 'Demo' folder may need to be manually created. - Copy the path to this Demo data i.e. D:\Exactwin\Demo, then add it into the Databases.ini file located in: C:\ProgramData\Software of Excellence\EXACT Server\databases.ini
- Name the database 'Demo'.
⚠️Note: Do not use a database containing an ACCPAC, and do not enter an ACCPAC into a backup or demo database.
💡Tip: If a demo or backup contains an ACCPAC, you can remove it by deleting the value of the setting: internal.practice id.name
- Name the database 'Demo'.
Once the database entry has been added to the Databases.ini file, save the file and launch EXACT.
- Log in to the demo database option on the Login screen, using the Default username.
- The Default username should be DEMO, with a password of DEMO or blank. If it is blank, leave the password field empty.
- Accept any prompts to upgrade the data by clicking OK. Due to limited information, this should not take long.
- Register the database, if prompted, adding as many licences as the customer needs.
💡Tip: Practices are not charged for demo database licences; therefore, add as many licences as you wish. - Provide the practice with the demo database login credentials, making sure the demo user is set as an admin, enabling them to create any additional users and configure EXACT as they require.
